The fifth edition of CyFy: The India Conference on Cyber Security and Internet Governance took place on 3-4 October, in New Delhi, India. It featured panels, roundtables, and interactions built around five main topics: Big politics, Technology and society, New voices, Digital economy, and Machine age.
CyFy is organised by the Observer Research Foundation, with support from many partners, and is chaired by Commissioner Samir Saran, Sean Kanuck (Chair of the GCSC Research Advisory Group), and Arun Sukumar.
This year’s edition of the CyFy Journal Digital Debates explores, in twelve engaging pieces, how this process of “cyber-“ regulation has been influenced by watershed political and military events, upending the role of state and non-state actors as traditionally understood. It includes captivating articles: Sean Kanuck on “Hacking Democracy” and Elina Noor on “Reconsidering Cyber Security” both give excellent descriptions how attacks in the future will continue to affect the integrity of information infrastructures. Nikolas Ott and Hugo Zylberberg (Deputy Chair of the GCSC Research Advisory Group) argue in ‘Addressing international security challenges while avoiding internet fragmentation’ for interoperable policy regulations.
