GCSC announces change in Commissioners

The GCSC is pleased to welcome Professor Motohiro Tsuchiya, Deputy Director of the Keio Global Research Institute, as a Commissioner. Alongside his academic roles at Keio University Prof. Tsuchiya also served as an expert member of the Information Security Policy Council of the Japanese government from 2009 to 2013. Prof. Tsuchiya is a prolific author on the subjects of the information revolution on international relations, global governance of information technology and cybersecurity having authored or co-authored more than 25 books.

Additionally Sorin Ducaru, Former Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges for NATO, has joined as a Special Advisor. In his previous role, Ambassador Ducaru guided policymaking and implementation in cyber defense, counterterrorism, WMD non-proliferation, energy security and the impact of new technologies upon security for the North Atlantic alliance. He served as the head of NATO’s Cyber Defense Management Board and coordinated NATO’s Science for Peace and Security Program.

Commissioners Wolff Heintschel von Heinegg and William Saito have decided to leave after the end of their first year on the GCSC for personal reasons. The Commission thanks both of them for their contributions to the initiative, and wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.
