“There’s a lot of uncertainty in cyberspace. You don’t know what the rules are, you don’t know what the consequences are, and we have to change that.” Commissioner Chris Painter believes that we need to get countries to accept certain rules of the road and we need to start enforcing them. The Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace is working hard to provide a framework for these rules that states will agree to over time.

Don’t attack critical infrastructure, don’t attack CERTS, the public core of the internet or electoral infrastructures, mitigate significant vulnerabilities and create a vulnerabilities equities process should all be long term rules of the road and should lead to an increase of accountability in cyberspace.
