- GCSC Official Meeting
On 27 November 2019, the GCSC hosted an event “Advancing Cyberstability: Final Report of the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace,” at the Estrel Congress Center in Berlin, Germany. The event took place in the context of the fourteenth Annual Meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), hosted by the government of Germany from 25-29 November 2019, under the overarching theme: One World. One Net. One Vision.
The GCSC event marked the continued participation of the Commission in one of the world’s most anticipated and established conferences on Internet governance. Past editions have seen the GCSC introduce its norms of responsible behavior of state and non-state actors to IGF participants, gaining valuable feedback in the process and informing the development of the final report. The Commission used the event as an opportunity to build on these contributions and add to the important work being undertaken by the international community in making the voices of all stakeholder groups heard and keeping them relevant for ongoing discussions surrounding international peace and security in multilateral processes such as the United Nations First Committee.
The session featured discussions on matters pertaining to international peace and security in cyberspace and Commissioners provided advanced insights into the GCSC report “Advancing Cyberstability”, launched by a ministerial panel on 11 November 2019 at the Paris Peace Forum.
