G20 Digital Economy Multistakeholder Conference

2019’s G20 Summit was held in Osaka, Japan. The GCSC participated in two successive meetings on the digital economy, helping to inform the G20 members on issues pertaining to responsible behavior in cyberspace.
Prior to the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba, Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held a G20 Digital Economy Multi-Stakeholder Conference on May 10. GCSC Commissioner Virgilio Almeida gave a keynote address about the work of the Commission, which provided an opportunity for a variety of stakeholders and experts to hold discussions on major subjects of the G20 ministerial meeting.
In another event also leading up to the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy, GCSC Commissioner Motohiro Tsuchiya took part in a Public-Private Dialogue session on May 9 along with the B20, U20, W20, C20, T20 representatives. He highlighted some of the current work of the GCSC, advocated in favor of the multi-stakeholder approach to cybersecurity at the ministerial meeting and encouraged further discussions on norms of responsible behavior.
